This walk starts at the Colstones Cut - the self proclaimed "Yorkshire's Highest Public Artwork" (http://thecoldstonescut.org). Just a short climb from the free car park and you are at an impressive viewing point which offers great 360 degree views of the surrounding landscape . You also get to see the impressive scale of Coldstones Quarry. Several viewing platforms are on offer, providing a slightly different vista. On leaving Coldstone the walk heads back towards the car park before circling around the village of Greenhow Hill.
The village itself is one of the highest in Yorkshire so there is no shortage of views across the valley. Some the walk is boggy and almost moor like. Note: Towards the end of the walk there is a clearly sign posted path than runs close to someone's property (the path runs very clearly between their house and garden shed) ... around 100 yards of this path is overgrown but very passable.
As you can see from the images below, conditions were excellent to capture some big skies and crisp landscapes. I would also consider returning to Coldstones for some night/astro photography especially given the height and potentially lower light pollution.
