Horsforth & Rodley (7.5 Miles)

This walk continues our series of local walks due to Covid 19 restrictions.  Despite being just 5 miles from Leeds City centre, Horsforth provides some lovely woodland walking and some river/canal walks.  This walk takes you from Horsforth to the river Aire, along the Leeds / Liverpool Canal and back to Horsforth.

Once parked up its only a 5 minute stroll to the Hawksworth Wood Trail which takes you to the A65 and on to the River Aire.  You come off the Aire via the impressive wrought iron Newlay Bridge, grade II listed and dating back to 1819.  A large span of the walk is on the Leeds Liverpool Canal and was quite busy with both pedestrian and cycling traffic.

You cross the Aire once more to climb up to a great view point with some wonderful views of Leeds City Centre before dropping back down into Horsforth to complete the walk.

Parking is roadside in Horsforth itself.
